About Me

My name is Scott Semmler (right) and I am a senior at San Jose State.  I am from Belmont, CA, which is just about 40 minutes north of San Jose and about twenty minutes south of San Francisco, but I currently reside in San Jose.

Growing up, sports was a way of life.  Whether I was playing it or watching it on TV, my family had instilled sports in me as an everyday activity at an early age.

When my playing days were finished, I did not want to leave sports altogether.  I had written for the newspaper at Carlmont High School for two years and it became clear that my love of sports and my interest in writing would come together.  It was obvious that sports journalism was the career path for me.

Currently, I am a journalism major with an emphasis in reporting and editing and a focus in radio, television and film at SJSU with an expected graduation date of May 2013.  My career goal is to be involved in sports in one way or another, as I have an experienced background in several different aspects of sports journalism, from appearing on radio stations to covering breaking news for one of the top sports websites in the United States.

I was the sports editor for the Spartan Daily at SJSU and am also a part of the TNT Breaking News team at Bleacher Report, Inc. (the 4th largest sports media website in the world), as well as the featured columnist for the San Jose Sharks. My hard work in the journalism industry has opened up internship opportunities, and i am fortunate enough to have interned at KPIX in San Francisco and Comcast SportsNet Bay Area for their website.
